Continuing with a few more pictures from the Yo San University (Los Angeles) event honoring Robert Downey Jr. on March 25, 2012.

Here is RDJ accepting the Robert Graham Visionary Award from Dr. Daoshing Ni, co-founder of Yo San University (an institution offering degree programs in Chinese medical arts in L.A.).  The award event, held at a beautiful private home in Malibu, raised funds for the university’s free outreach medical programs for the under-served in the community.  RDJ was presented with the award “in recognition of his brilliant artistic achievement and his advocacy of traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts.”

The award is named for the late Robert Graham (1938-2008), a famed artist and architect who created the bronze doors of Our Lady of Angels, the Catholic cathedral of Los Angeles; and who also created major sculptural monuments across the nation to such icons as Joe Louis (Detroit), Franklin D. Roosevelt (Washington, D.C.) and Duke Ellington (St. Louis).  Graham was an advocate of Chinese medicine and philosophy and supported Yo San University.  You can sort of see the award in these photos - it’s a crystal rectangle etched with a design created by Graham: a female acupuncture model.

See more about the event on my Tumblr by clicking on the top photo.  I took some iPhone video and a lot of photos - very happy to share.  Just tell me when this gets boring!  (Oh, how could looking at RDJ ever be boring?)
